The EQLAccess technology initiative is a unit of the Rehabilitation
Institute at Santa Barbara. lt is a proof of concept laboratory
for the adaptation of advances in information technology related
assistance to enhance the quality of life for individuals with
disabilities. This presentation was developed for delivery at
Forum 2002, a conference for industry leaders from across
the value chain of digital electronics products and services,
including service providers from the broadband, energy, and
telecommunications industries. The presentation addressed new
trends in robotics and telemedicine.
The hospital provides specialized medical rehabilitation services
for the treatment of people with spinal cord injury, acquired
brain injury, stroke, neurological and orthopedic problems,
and many other disabling conditions resulting from injury or
illness. The Rehabilitation Institute has offered comprehensive
medical rehabilitation for inpatients, outpatients and in the
community for over 30 years. |
